Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge
$180-$450 per night

Overview
Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge is an award-winning eco-retreat perched on Nteko Ridge at 2,161 metres above sea level, overlooking the Bwindi forest canopy, the Kashasha River Valley and the chain of Virunga volcanoes. Established in 2007, the lodge has evolved from a remote ridge-top campsite into a refined property that balances sustainability with comfort — operating as a carbon-neutral facility in a naturally mosquito-free highland environment.
Accommodation ranges from Standard Garden Cottages and Deluxe Garden Cottages to spacious Luxury Forest Suites and two-bedroom Family Villas, all built from volcanic stone with African-inspired interiors. The Mist Spa offers wellness treatments after a day on the trails, and the restaurant serves African-inspired cuisine daily from early morning to late evening. Sundowner drinks on the ridge terrace with volcano views are a highlight.
Beyond gorilla trekking, the lodge arranges golden monkey tracking, walking safaris, Batwa cultural forest experiences, volcano hiking, Lake Mutanda canoeing, coffee farm visits and cocktail masterclasses. The lodge has earned a TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Award and World Travel Awards recognition for its combination of eco-credentials, community impact and guest experience.

A gorilla trekking permit costs $800 per person and is booked separately through the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) — not included in your lodge rate. $10 from each permit goes directly to local communities surrounding Bwindi, linking conservation with the livelihoods of the people who live alongside the gorillas.
